This Week I Learned: Baby Teeth, WNBA, Water
Only uplifting news made it into this week's learning-focused article. There’s the fight for social justice and equal treatment that has thankfully made its way into headline news. A new Netflix show is about to teach me about healthy and conscious living. But first, a quick something about baby teeth and cute little animals.
Mammals and Baby Teeth
If you caught last week's article you learned I adopted a kitten. Well thanks to my newest family member, I learned yet another thing about animals.
Just like humans, most mammals are born without any teeth because they’re brought up drinking their mother's milk. They then grow baby teeth, which they lose, and finally grow in adult teeth. Bonus info, cats have 30 teeth and dogs 42.
WNBA and Social Justice
For those unaware, the WNBA in general has been leading the sports world in social justice for years. When the NBA restart happened in the bubble, players had the option to opt out due to COVID concerns. The WNBA’s season started in the summer, which meant players also had the option to opt-out due to COVID.
Some WNBA players did opt out for COVID reasons. But quite a few opted out to focus their attention on social justice. Maya Moore has sat out two consecutive seasons for this reason. Others include Renee Montgomery, Tiffany Hayes, and Natasha Cloud.
Paris’ Socialized Water Supply
The new Netflix show Down to Earth with Zac Effron is about to teach me a lot. One thing that’s stood out so far is that Paris decided to publicly manage their entire water supply. Other cities have since followed suit, and a look back at price data shows this move has led to them paying less for water.
